BOTANICAL GARDEN | OGRÓD BOTANICZNY

 

Piękny, urzekający, ciekawy, różnorodny, pociągający, skryty, tajemniczy, wilgotny, kłujący, trujący, parzący, wabiący kolorami i zapachami, lepki, odurzający, żywy, miękki, twardy, kruchy, szeleszczący, martwy, gnijący… bardzo malarski - Ogród Botaniczny . Miejsce pełne uroku i sekretu. 

 

- To nie są obrazy o kwiatach. To są obrazy o ludziach. Kwitnące kamelie które posłużyły mi jako jeden z wątków w tej serii, gdzie na płaszczyźnie symbolicznej są dla mnie jak ludzie.. z jednej strony piękni, kwitnący, wabiący urokiem a z drugiej strony poplątani, tajemniczy.. dlatego też chciałem aby obrazy były atrakcyjne ale i mroczne.

 

Ogród botaniczny, rzeczywiście wprowadza w twórczości Roszczaka pewne novum. Obrazy są bardzo malarskie, ekspresyjne, nonszalanckie, z wyraźnymi śladami pędzla i farbą bezpośrednio mieszającą się ze sobą na płótnie. Artysta pracuje w gąszczu dba o szczegóły, myśli całością, barwnymi plamami, kompozycją. Roszczak nie boi się koloru różowego, powszechnie kojarzonego z kiczem, używa go  świadomie i w dużej ilości, ale pomimo to jego obrazy nie są słodkie ani plastikowe, zachowują pewną surowość, chropowatość, są dalekie od idealizowania rzeczywistości, przez to też są ciekawsze.

 

W Ogrodzie botanicznym odnajdujemy kwiaty powabne, zachęcające ale i trujące. To świat w którym piękno bywa zwodnicze, czasem stanowi pretekst aby do siebie przyciągnąć i przy sobie zatrzymać - natura ma swoje sposoby. Wszystko to oparte na konstrukcjach z łodyg, konarów, kłączy, krzaków, skrywające ciemne zakamarki, wilgoć i splątane korzenie. Towarzyszą temu pociągający lepki nektar oraz inne wabiące zapachy i kształty.

 

Ogród botaniczny to obszar pełen złożonych relacji i zależności między roślinami – arena na której ciągle toczy się walka.

 

-Wiele ciekawych motywów odkryłem gdzieś w gąszczu, pomiędzy liśćmi, łodygami – wiadomo, to co ukryte jest bardziej pociągające i rozbudza wyobraźnię... Malując obrazy myślałem o Nas, ludziach. Porównanie do Ogrodu wydaje się być zasadne, gdyż także jesteśmy różnorodni, skomplikowani, posiadamy swoje walory, wady i sekrety. Bywamy radośni ale i mroczni, niedostępni. Lubimy zagarniać przestrzeń.

Beautiful, interesting, diverse, attractive, hidden, secret, moist, spiky, poisonous, burning, colorful and fragrant, sticky, vivid, soft, hard, fragile, rustling, still, rotting ... artistic – this is a botanical garden. It is a beautiful place full of secrets.

 

- These paintings are not about flowers. They are about people. Blooming camellias used as a leitmotif in a series of paintings symbolize people to me...on one side beautiful, blooming and attractive or twisted and mysterious on the other...therefore, I thought my paintings should be attractive, but dark at the same time.

 

Botanic garden is the beginning of some novelty in the artwork by Roszczak. The paintings are very picturesque, expressive and nonchalant with the defined and clear strokes of brush and paint which is being mixed on canvas. The artist himself works in a thicket and he looks after the details while thinking conceptually through colorful stains and composition.

 

Roszczak is not afraid of using pink color, which is often associated with trash and he uses this color with full awareness and in large quantities however his paintings are neither sweet or plastic and they are still rigid, rough and first all of they are far from window dressing of the reality, therefore they are more interesting. In the garden the beauty may be deceptive - it may be a pretext and it may attract only to capture - Nature knows its ways. Everything is based on constructions made of stems, branches, shoots and shrubs obscuring dark spaces, moisture and twisted roots. All in the company of sticky nectar and other seducing scents and shapes.

 

In botanic garden we find flowers, which are alluring, tempting and also toxic. A botanical garden is a space filled with complex relations and interactions among plants – a fighting arena of everlasting struggle.

 

 

- I found many interesting motives somewhere among the shrubs, among leaves and stems - evidently hidden world is more attractive and becomes an impulse to imagination... When I was painting I thought about us, the people. Comparison to a garden seems to be justified as we are diverse, complex and possess different qualities, flaws and secrets. We happen to be joyous, but murky too - unavailable. We like to conquer the space around us.
